Microsoft.NET Framework

Download

If you don't already have the .NET Framework on your system you can downloaded it from the Microsoft website. The file is rather large (about 20MB) but you will need the Framework runtime file sooner or later since most new programs will be written with .NET Framework. If you have a new operating system (e.g. XP) you can simply upgrade it online at the Microsoft upgrade website (free) and the upgraded version will include the .NET Framework.

Click here to download the .NET Framework. On the Microsoft webpage, scroll down and look for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Redistributable. Click on it and on the next displayed web page look for the download link (probably on the right side of the window, called .Net Framework Redistributable). The downloaded file is called dotnetfx.exe. To install, simply double-click on the file and follow the instructions.
